In order to track great white sharks, researchers are dropping off sensors into the Atlantic Ocean off northeast Florida. The devices will be placed on buoys within a mile from shore. Shark experts at the University of North Florida will be alerted whenever a tagged great white shark swims within a few hundred yards of the sensors. Data from the tracking devices show that some great white sharks spend more time close to shore than researchers previously believed.
