Gr8-White Stainless Steel Sustainable Bottles are BPA and taste free, while offering substantial insulation over conventional stainless steel beverage bottles. Gr8-White Stainless Steel Sustainable Bottles are built with durable food grade stainless steel and are insulated to keep your beverage of choice cold for hours without the condensation of most other steel beverage bottles. They contain no plastic coated lining, conform to most cup holder sizes, and are offered in a variety of sizes. But why choose a BPA free stainless steel bottle?
The sum of all domestic trash in the United States today contained about 30 million tons of plastic waste. About 13 million tons came specifically from containers and packaging, such as soda and water bottles. Our oceans are also being filled with materials that take hundreds to thousands of years to decompose. We talk about recycling and upcycling all the time-don’t get me wrong, they are good programs that we should support; but I am just thinking, why do we have to use plastic containers in the first place? We are not only talking about environmental impact here, there is another important reason not to use plastic containers—health concern, namingly BPA. Yes, that is bisphenol A, an industrial chemical that has been used to make plastics and resins which are often used in containers that store food and beverages, such as water bottles, and baby bottles and cups.
So why is BPA a health concern? Some research has shown that BPA can seep into food or beverages from containers or into your body when you handle products made with BPA. The Food and Drug Administration says there are possible health effects of BPA on the brain, behavior and prostate gland of fetuses, infants and children. And the FDA is taking steps to reduce human exposure to BPA in the food supply by finding alternatives to BPA in food containers.
Seeking out BPA-free plastic products can be confusing. You have to remember chemical names like “Polycarbonate” (to avoid) and “2HDPE, 4LDPE and 5 polypropylene 2HDPE” (to look for). The easiest way to avoid the BPA problem all together is using stainless steel container. Note I said “STEEL” not “aluminum”, because most aluminum cans or bottles have linings that contain BPA, while steel bottles or cans don’t.
Simple and easy solution to two big problems, isn’t it? I don’t see milk sold in stainless steel jar yet, but I can certainly see we start filling our stainless steel water bottle to meet our daily needs of hydration on the go. It’s functional, durable, portable, fashionable, boosting health and saving the world…what are you still waiting for?
