Florida’s lobster mini-season began at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday.
Hunters have until midnight Thursday to catch a limit of lobsters. The regular harvest season opens Aug. 6 and continues through March 31. The bag limit is 12 per person per day throughout the state — except in the Keys and Biscayne National Park, where the limit is six.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials scoured the waters checking equipment, enforcing the catch limit, and making sure boats were keeping a safe distance from one another. Lobster sniffing dogs are used to ensure hunters are not abusing marine resources. Boating and diving Safety is also highly stressed as there’s absolutely no lobster that’s worth your life.
